All Ireland silver for Trim athlete

The AAI underage combined event championships took place at Nenagh on Saturday. Shane Aston, Trim AC  got his new season underway in the under 19 division. Shane had a total of2905 points which earned him second place behind Cork athlete Eric Stam .His perfromnces over the five events were,60m hurdles,9.71; long jump ,5.60m; shot putt,  10.00m; high jump, 1.72; 800m, 2.23.4.

Slan leat Sean

In recent years Sean Swords, father of our club man Declan, gave his knowledge and support to our Wicklow Way relay team. We were impressed by the fitness and enthusiasm which Sean maintained into his 80s.Each year he would join the "support crew" close to his home at Ballinastoe and was on hand at all the changeovers right down to Shillelalagh. Sean passed away in early January and our mountain crew will miss him when they take to the hills this year.
