Schools medals for Clare, Doireann and Emma
The girls from Scoil Mhuire Secondary School competed in the first of the 2 day North Leinster Schools Track& Field Championships in Santry Stadium, Dublin, on Wednesday 2nd May. First year to 5th year students took part in Jumps, Throws, Sprints and Middle Distance running. A very large crowd of girls and boys Secondary schools in North Leinster competed in these events.
Four girls qualified to compete in the Leinster Championships which take place on 16th and 19th May in Santry. They were Grainne Curran who won the Junior U15 LJ, Ashling O’Hare 2nd in Junior U15 800m, Ciara McGuire 2nd in Minor SP and Debbie Awomolo 3rd in Minor Discuss.
Other athletes who performed very well were: Orla Farrell, Megan Smith, Caoimhe Eivers, Orla Ainsworth, Amy Troy, Nicole Smith, Emma Coffey, Rachael Walsh and Alison Daly.
Friday 2nd May
The second day of the North Leinsters T&F Championships took place on Friday 4th May. Most events were for the Intermediate and Senior athletes. On the day Scoil Mhuire had 7 girls who qualified for the Leinster Championships on Saturday 19th May. They were Orla O’Donnell 1st Senior U19 Jav, Laura Ann Daly 2nd Inter U17 Discuss, Clare McLernon 2nd LJ, 3rd HJ and Laura & Ciara Heneghan 1st & 2nd Inter 200m. The girls Senior u19 Relay team got 2nd place, and they were Alison Daly, Emma Foley, Clare McLernon and Laura Heneghan.
Doireann Clarke, Laura & Ciara Heneghan and Ashling O’Hare ran in the Junior U15 Relay and were placed 3rd but unfortunately only the first 2 teams go through to the Leinsters. Over the two days in Santry 18 Medals were won including those for Relays.
Overall, there are 11 girls representing Scoil Mhuire in the Leinster Championships. This is a great achievement for the girls.
Well done to all the girls who took part over the 2 days, and best of luck to those competing to go through to the All Irelands.

long long way
At the great Limerick Run new club member Aidan Flynn took in the sights of the city over the half marathon course of 13+ miles in a time of 1.52. At the other end of the country Brian Grant and Enda Gallagher took part in the Belfast City Marathon. We await the results which will be included later in the week.
Nathan leads the way
Congratulations to Nathan Grant on his Leinster Schools sprint victory during the week. Nathan has notched up a number of Leinster titles since taking up the sport last year and also medalled at the AAI national finals last August. We wish him well in the county championships and the rest of the schools championships over the coming weeks.

The Pat Finnerty memorial 5km series got underway at Belvedere House near Mullingar last Wednesday evening. The 5 race series promoted by Mullingar Harriers AC attracted another massive crowd of over 600 to the lakeshore venue. Trim Ac had its usual strong representation at this event which brings out great performances from runners each year as they try to improve week on week. It also sets runners up well for the busy summer road racing schedule. Dublin Duathlon Series
The first round of the 2012 Dublin Duathlon Series took place in the Phoenix Park last Wednesday evening. Danny Byrne completed the 2.7km run,13km cycle,2.7km run in 45.58 and clubmate Ciaran Tobin finished in 48.35

Navan AC will stage their annual 6km road race from Claremont stadium on Friday 11 May. Start time is 8pm. We urge our members to support this great local road running promotion which will have prizes in the usual senior, junior and masters grades. Navan AC will be making a contribution to BRI Brain Injury charity.
County Championships
County Championships
NEXT WEEKEND the county track and field championships will get underway at Claremont stadium and continue on 20th May. Trim AC urge the parent of ALL juvenile members to facilitate their childrens participation. These running, jumping and throwing events are what your child has spent month preparing for. The county relays are later in the month on Friday 25the May and the club expects to field squads in all the underage grades up to under 16. These are team events and your friends and training colleagues are depending on a full turnout.
John Doyle back on form
The Boyne 10km road race took place in and around Drogheda on Sunday 6 May. The organisers Drogheda and District Athletic Club put on a very well organised event which attracted over 1500 entrants. John Doyle continued his return to form with a 40.57 effort. Over the past two weeks he has taken part in the IMRA summer league at Bray (storms and difficult underfoot) and Three Rock Mountain in preparation for the clubs Wicklow Way Relay later in May.

Braveheart Trail Run
The third Trim Braveheart Trail Race will be staged over a five kilometre
course on Friday 15th June at 8pm. The event will be staged along the banks
of the Boyne and will take in many of the medieval sites of the town through
the historic Porchfields. The heritage trails of Trim includes a number of
locations which featured in the film Braveheart. The runners will once more
be sent on their way with a rousing film scene reenactment by members of
Trim Amateur Dramatic Society. The is the first event of the Scurlogstown
Haymaking Festival will and a torch will be borne to the race site by local
sports club members carrying it in relay from Teltown near Kells the site of
the ancient celtic Tailteann Games.
Trim AC is celebrating its 40th year in 2012 and the first 500 entries for
the race will receive a commemorative technical t-shirt. Entry is now open
on www.runireland.com at €15. There will be category prizes for overall,
junior and master runners.Trim AC are keen to encourage the many
recreational runners and joggers who have taken to the roads and fields of
Ireland in recent years to come along and enjoy the unique atmosphere of
this event. Last years overall mens winner was Neville Reilly and the womens
winner was Fiona Mahon.
Entry on the night from 6.30pm at Porchfields Trim ( 100m from Trim Castle
over pedestrian bridge). The venue is 20 mins from M3 and M4. This year the
club has chosen Meath Cystic Fibrosis as its designated charity.
Entertainment and refreshments on the night.

Baton Chargers
Congrats to the mens A team which won the C grade of the Meath road relays at Bohermeen on Weds 10 April. In the womens race our A team was second in Agrade and the B team was second in the B grade. The race was run over four legs comprising of half mile, one mile, mile and a half and two miles

Drogheda & District plan major 10km
Boyne 10K 2012-
The Boyne10K 2012 will take place in Drogheda on Sunday 6th May 2012. Drogheda and District Athletic Club will host this event in conjunction with Boyne Athletic Club. During the year, D &D AC supports many local races and we hope your club along with others will support us by partaking in the Boyne10K event.
The primary objective of the race is to raise funds for the local athletic clubs and to raise funds for a local charity, The Tania McCabe Foundation. The Boyne 10K 2012 will take place on Sunday 6th May at 3pm, last year we had 1,200 participants. Entry is available on line through www.boyne10k.ie. Free entry is available for elites with certified times of sub 32 minutes for men and sub 36 for women, please see attached a race entry form which can be returned to the above address for any elites entering the race.
The Boyne 10K route will start on Laurence Street in the centre of Drogheda and run towards to the Battle of the Boyne site at Oldbridge and return back via the Boyne Boardwalk to finish in the centre of the town again. As well as the main race there will be a series of juvenile races, which will allow participation of all ages on the day. Participants can park in the Laurence’s Shopping Centre, where team prizes and refreshments will be held after the race.

Tabor presentation
Trim Athletic club recently organised the"Team up for Tabor " fun run in
conjunction with the Celtic Festival in Trim. L-R, Ciaran Tobin, Chairman,
Trim AC, Ray Butler, TD, Chairman,Trim Parade Committee, Don Mahon, Trim AC,
Enda Markey, Trim AC, presenting the proceeds of the run to Aidan Heffernan,
Tabor House Recovery Centre.
Thanks to all the club members who helped make this event a success, thanks to Ray Butler who sponsored the medals and the best of luck to Aidan Heffernan and all the volunteers who work on behalf of Tabor House.
All those who came along on the night made a difference and enabled us to raise €1160 for this very worthy cause.
