Here and there

Navan AC hosted their annual Simon Cumbers Memorial 6km road race from Claremont stadium on Friday night. Trim AC was well represented at the event and two of our runners got among the category prizes. Conor Daniel was second in the junior mens and Don Mahon finishe d second in the M40.
Thirty members of the club took part in the second round of the Mullingar road League at Belvedere House. First Trim finisher was Sean Murphy in a time of 17.02.
The club was busy at the county track and field championships on Sunday. The competitions yielded 21 medal winning performances. Among those to top the podium were Fionan Madden and Charlotte O Donnell in their respective high jump events. All systems go for the county relays at Claremont Stadium on Weds. 18 May with the first race getting underway at 7pm.Trim AC will hold the second annual Braveheart 5km trail run on Friday 17th June. The club has nominated Trim Special Olympics swimming club as its charity for this years event. Registration is now open for €12 with runireland.com. For May only the club meet and train will be on Monday evening, this is to facilitate the large numbers from the club taking part in the Harriers league.

The first round of the Mullingar League at Belvedere attracted a great

Dundalk Half Marathon At the Dundalk Half Marathon there were two members of

the club taking part. John Doyle set a new pb of 1h32m which was 14 minute

better than his 2010 time over the same course. Maureen Lowther was the

fifth woman home in a time of 1h38m.         Dublin Duathlon Series The

first round of the 4 race Dublin duathlon series took place in the Phoenix

Park also on Weds. 4 May. Quinton Bourke completed the 2.7km run, 13km

cycle, 2.7km run in a great time of 46m. The series continues on the first

Wednesday evening of June/July and August.



Juvenile Success


Meath Track and Field championships began at Dunboyne for the hammer and

discus events last Saturday and continued on Sunday at Claremont Stadium.

The club had medal winning performances last weekend by Roisin Dineen,

Nathan Grant, Leo Bond,Alex Bond, Ruth Quinn, Shane Aston, Emma Foley,Andrew

Lynam. Well done to the other runners, jumpers and throwers from the club

taking part including, Alannah Gonsalves, Andrew Morris, Micheal Mahon, Luke

Mahon, Peter Honer, Mark McDonnell, Robert Quigley, Sean McLernon, Clare

McLernon, Mikey,Kate and David O Neill,Lillian Brady,Caoimhe Rowe, Megan

Peppard,Megan Smith, Niamh Mahon,Liam Broderick, David Collins,Meath Track

and Field championships continue at Claremont Stadium next Sunday 15 May.

The club is looking forward to having a better turnout at next Sundays

competition and at the relays on Wednesday 18 May. Parents are requested to

make an effort to attend this competition with their children and give them

your encouragement and support.



Braveheart 2011

The club is busy organising its 2011 Braveheart 5km trail race in

cooperation with the Scurlogstown Olympiad Haymaking Festival.. This year

there is online registration for just ?12 on www.runireland.com or ?15

between 6-7pm on the night.  We have chosen the Trim Special Olympics

Swimming club as our designated charity for this year. The first Meath

registered athlete will receive the Larry Daly Cup for their efforts.The

will be generous goody bags, spot prizes as well as a comprehensive prize

list for overall, junior and masters categories.

The club is currently organising a six week series of training programme

which includes a coaching plan with training runs, advice and race entry

included. Meet on Monday evenings at 7.30pm opposite Trim Garda station and

see your run or jogging times improve. We will also encourage you to take in

the other events in the Meath Running League including 13.05 Simon Cumber 6k

Brigid's AC 5k  Oldcastle.The clubs of Meath organise some of the best road

races in the country. The funds raised go back into local club development

and local charities. They dont cost an arm and a leg. You will enjoy the

encouragement and social aspect ofall these great LOCAL road races.
