Braveheart Trail Run

The third Trim Braveheart Trail Race will be staged over a five kilometre
course on Friday 15th June at 8pm. The event will be staged along the banks
of the Boyne and will take in many of the medieval sites of the town through
the historic Porchfields.  The heritage trails of Trim includes a number of
locations which featured in the film Braveheart. The runners will once more
be sent on their way with a rousing film scene reenactment by members of
Trim Amateur Dramatic Society. The is the first event of the Scurlogstown
Haymaking Festival will and a torch will be borne to the race site by local
sports club members carrying it in relay from Teltown near Kells the site of
the ancient celtic Tailteann Games.



Trim AC is celebrating its 40th year in 2012 and the first 500 entries for
the race will receive a commemorative technical t-shirt. Entry is now open
on www.runireland.com at €15. There will be category prizes for overall,
junior and master runners.Trim AC are keen to encourage the many
recreational runners and  joggers who have taken to the roads and fields of
Ireland in recent years to come along and enjoy the unique atmosphere of
this event. Last years overall mens winner was Neville Reilly and the womens
winner was Fiona Mahon.

Entry on the night from 6.30pm at Porchfields Trim ( 100m from Trim Castle
over pedestrian bridge). The venue is 20 mins from M3 and M4. This year the
club has chosen Meath Cystic Fibrosis as its designated charity.
Entertainment and refreshments on the night.
