Great Trim turnout at Dunboyne 4

In an era of cuts and reductions it is great to be able to report on a
positive growth story.

In 2010 just over 500 took part in the Dunboyne 4 mile
road race.

Last Sunday 1025 people registered for the 2011 renewal of this great event.
The opening of the new railway stations at Dunboyne and Pace resulted in
Irishrail becoming the main sponsor in cooperation with Athletics Ireland
and Independent Newspapers. This was a significant coup for the Dunboyne
club. It gave an already popular event a much higher media profile
particularly at national level.
This year has seen an increase in the number of Trim runners taking part in
road races. The scene was set in the underage boys race where Michael Mahon
finished eleventh and David O Neill got into the top twenty of a large and
very competitive field.

The main race over a new 4 mile circuit had 22 members of our club. A good
number of this group are completely new to road running and have made great
progress since their initial tentative runs last October. The meet and train
group which included circuit training with the usual road running has proven
to be a successful development for the club and we look to expand it this
spring. The club welcomes anyone in the area who wants to "up their game" be
it for fitness, weight loss, marathons/triathlons , stress busting or pure
fun and craic. Alongside these meet and train runners were some seasoned masters runners who have carried the club colours for years.

was third in the masters mens grade These great results come in addition to
the two third place teams in the mens and womens senior grades. Congrats to
