The Milano City Marathon 2011 took place in warm conditions on Sunday. As the runners went to the start line it was around 20c but rose to 25c which is above normal in Northern Italy at this time of the year. The warm conditions were offset by a smooth route, with no rough surfaces and virtually all on level ground: The route started at the Fiera di Rho and crossed the most characteristic parts of the city to end in Piazza Castello, Having ended 2010 on a high note in the Dublin Marathon, Sean Murphy was looking to kick off this years long distance events with a good run in Italy. He once more dipped under the three hour mark for the marathon. His “Italian Job” for 2011 resulted in a time of 2h55m, a great performance once again for Sean.
