Trim athletes put in a number of good performances at various venues over the weekend. On Friday evening Sean Murphy finished first over 40 and fourth overall at the Navan AC 6km road race in a time of 20.17 and Conor Daniel finished third in the junior mens grade with a time of 25.43. In the Moy half marathon in on Saturday Sheila Quinn clocked 2.14 around the roads of Ballina.
On Sunday morning Maureen Lowther set a new personal best time for the marathon when crossing the line in the Curragh in 3.34.
The first two days of the county track and field championships were staged over the weekend. The hammer and discus events were staged at Dunboyne track on Saturday. The action switched to Claremont Stadium on Sunday and there was a good turnout by the juvenile section of the club.There was a double success for Shane Aston in the junior mens shot putt (10.15m) and discus (37.56m) and two runners up spots in the high jump and 100m. His mother Moira won the masters women hammer once again and was runner up in the shot putt. The boys under 15 100m had a one two result for Trim Athletic club with recent schools title winnerNathan Grant coming home ahead of Peter Honer. Early in the day Fergal O Keane made the transition from ball throw up to the javelin with an impressive success in the under 14 grade throwing 21.43metres.
Other medallists for Trim were Emma Foley who was second junior woman in both the 100 metres and long jump, Oisin Walsh, 3rd in the under 17 discus and Conor Daniel ,3rd in the under 18 400 metres.
Simon Cumbers & Paddy Hyland 6km organised by Navan AC in association with Sheridan Insurances attracted a field of over 300 runners. Trim AC results were as follows, Sean Murphy, fourth overall, first over 40 in a time of 20.17 just two weeks after his excellent new PB at the Madrid Marathon. Next across the line for Trim AC was Enda Markey,22.39,then Don Mahon,22,43,Barry Harten, 23.43,Mark Melia,24.26,Kealan Gormley,25.09,Conor Daniel, 25.43,Claire Smith,25.59,Paul Smith,27.40,Majella Thompson,27.56,Anita Rogers,29.47,Muireann Broderick,31.43.
