friends who have passed on, or who are currently struggling with illness or

"The month of November is a time of remembrance for everyone at year's end -
an ideal time to remember family or friends passed and present, and to
celebrate our own gift of days,"

Trim on the trails
Taking part in the Fighting Blindness Glendalough 15km trail race were Conor Daniel, Brian Cully, Stuart Daniel, Ciaran Tobin. Crisp clear and chilly conditions. Steep wooded inclines and stunning views on the return journey made this a memorable event for a deserving cause.

Second Level schools cross country
The Meath 2nd level CC will be staged on the
grounds of Franciscan College Gormanstown on Thursday 15 Nov. This event is
organised by the Meath Co Athletics Board. There has been a worrying trend in
recent years where this event actually attracts better support from schools in
Louth, Cavan and Westmeath than it does from schools within the county. There
is a worrying apathy from Meath schools. TRIM AC and
the County Athletics Board request that parents bring this matter to the
attention of the schools and encourage the schools to take part.
Code of Ethics
Meath Athletics Board is hosting a Code of
Ethics for Children in Athletics course: Date: 6th November Time: 7.00pm – 10pm
Venue: Claremont Stadium, Navan This course is essential for all volunteers
working with juvenile athletes or vulnerable adults. The course is free to
Meath members and there is currently 10 places available on a first come first
served basis. Email moiraaston@athleticsireland.ie
Trim at the marathon
Trim AC was very well
represented at the 2012 Dublin city Marathon on Monday morning. Over 14,000 took
part in this years event ,this is a record figure which underlines the
popularity of running events at the moment. The weather conditions were good
for this time of year and a number of our experienced runners set new PBs on
the day. The club also had a number of debutants who were extremely pleased
with their marathon experiences.
The club results to hand are as follows: Sean Murphy, 2.51, Quinton Bourke, 3.05,Joe McNamara,3.08,Don Mahon,3.19,Andrew Linsley,3.20 ,Maureen Lowther,3.30, Mark Melia,3.37, Claire Smith,3.43 Brendan Conway,3.47,Brian Grant,3.59,Thomas Gallagher,3.51,Stephen Byrne, 3.54,Kevin Horan,4.00,Anita Rogers,4.47,Majella Thompson,4.47,Paula Hegarty,4.47,Heather Carty,4.51. Well done to each and every one of our members and you should all be proud of your performance and the way you all prepared.
Great day at Leinsters
The grounds of Charles Stewart
Parnells home at Avondale, Rathdrum was the venue for the Athletics Leinster
2012 even ages, novice and masters cross country on Sunday. The persistent rain
made the going difficult for the runners.
Trim AC had a number of juvenile runners on county teams which medalled in the inter counties competitions. The county team won the boys under 14 title and Trim had David O’Neill on the squad. In the girls under 14 inter county our club was represented by Hannah Gilligan Aoife McDonnell and Niamh Fahey. This team also took the top honours. Andrea Hiney, Caoimhe Rowe, Lilian Brady were on the girls u12 which performed very well .
In the masters categories Brian Cully and Ciaran Tobin were members of the Meath squad which finished just four points ahead of Dublin in the M50 inter counties. In the master womans county battle Dublin edged out the Meath woman by three points. Ann Tobin finished third in the W50 grade.
The next provincial action will take place at Dunboyne on Sunday 11 November. Starting at 12 noon. Down for decision will be u/11/13/15/17 and intermediate championships. Later in the month Tattersalls cross country course at Fairyhouse will be the venue for the Athletics Ireland national even ages and county championships.

FUN RUN for Guide Dogs
Trim Athletic club organised a 3km fun run
around the town centre last Friday evening. It is the latest fun run organised
by the club which give runners a low key introducito to races while helping
make a contribution to good charitable causes. We are extremely grateful to the
runners and walkers from Trim and its surrounding area who turned out in great
numbers to support the event which will benefit the Irish Guide dogs for the
Blind. There were some great outfits on display as a large number of
participants embraced the whole fun theme by running in disguise. Spot prizes and
team prizes were awarded.
Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind offers a
comprehensive range of services which enable both blind and vision
impaired persons and families of children with Autism to achieve increased
independence and an improved quality of life. Since 1976 Irish Guide
Dogs for the Blind has provided a guide dog programme for people who have a
vision impairment or total sight loss. A guide dog is specially trained to
accompany and enable a vision impaired person to move about safely,
independently and with confidence. The working relationship between a guide dog
and its owner is unique and it offers both social and emotional benefits.
Launched in 2005 the IGDB Assistance Dog
Programme was the first of its kind in Europe. An Assistance Dog is the same breed,
age and temperament as a Guide Dog and is trained especially to work with a
child with autism and his or her family. Assistance Dogs help to
control and improve the behaviour of the child by promoting calmness and acting
as a safety aid to the parent. Outings to public places become less
stressful and families enjoy greater freedom and mobilityMore than 80% of Irish
Guide Dogs for the Blind income comes from fundraising and donations. They rely on the support and generosity of people
in order to deliver their services to clients free of charge. It costs €38,000 to breed, care
and support a single working-dog partnership. There's currently a 1 YEAR
WAITING LIST for Guide Dogs;
Trim AC thank the
following for their help in staging this event. Alan Grehan @ Sally Rogers for
allowing us use his bar for registrations, DJ Johhny Pluse, Richie Walsh @ Judge
& Jury, David Tobin for various PA equipment in the start and finish areas.
Christian Harris for security barriers, Sgt Tom Mahon, Trim Garda Siochana, Meath
Civil Defence, Stephen Leonard Hardware , Focus On Trim, Bootcamp Ireland for
the warm up and all the members of the club who marshalled the route, helped
with registration and results.

David Hawcrofts BLOOMFIELD report
Did a very interesting 10k today at Broomfield (turn right at Geraghty's
concrete between Slane and Collon) and would heartily recommend members put
it on their calendar for next year. Turns out Broomfield is an extremely
small village which has an annual 10k event tor raise money for a charity
(but this year to re-paint their community centre), and it was really heart
warming to see this tiny community in action. In the end there were only 13
runners, with about 40 walkers of all standards. (This included the whole
range from toddlers on bikes with stabilisers to some really old locals just
going up to the first turn and back - and I for one applaud them all).
It was certainly a low key event ("well its about 2 o'clock so you had
better get off then" was the start; and the entry fee was " a
donation -whatever you like"). But I would recommend the event not just
because of the atmosphere but because the course was quite tough. It rolled
for the whole 10k, with a very long shallow one and two really stiff climbs
(just think of the area around Collon when you've been driving and you will
get a feel for it), so despite it being a low key local event you can give
yourself a serious run if you want, and there was certainly three or four
good runners there for a challenge if that's your thing. No medals, times or
goody bag but who wants yet more, you do get some first-rate homemade cake
and pleasant chat afterwards.
