Day one of the Meath 2012 cross country took
place on Sun 7 October in Ballinacree. There were some excellent performances
in the under age races. The girls under 12 team of Andrea Hiney, Caoimhe
Rowe,Olivia Gonsalves, Lilian Brady, Esha Hughes, Roisin O’Rourke, Emma Rennick
and Aoife Swords took a team bronze. In the under 14 grils race the Trim team
of Hannah Gilligan, Aoife McDonnell, Niamh Fahey and Emer Ferry finished second
to Na Fianna. The boys under 12 team was led home by Conall Bird and the other
runners, John Ferry, Michael Hegarty and Gearoid McGee took the team to fourth
place. David O’Neill, James Dineen, Shane Clarke (under 14s) Claudia Durkin
(u10) and Ciaran McGee (u10) all took part in the championships. The even ages
championships will be held at Dunboyne next Sunday at 12 noon. Cross country
coach John Rowe is optimistic that the club will once again do well in the team
categories and is hoping to have a good group from the club attaining selection
on the Meath squads for the Leinster championships.

Mahon 1st M40, Stuart Daniel 3rd M40, Ann Tobin 1st W50, Carrie Brogan 2nd W50.
Mens masters team of Don Mahon, Declan Swords, Ciaran Tobin, Stuart Daniel,
Brian Cully and Martin Brogan finished third and the womens masters team of Ann
Tobin, Caroline Brogan and Suzanne Daniel finished 3rd.
